My Poetry
Night of Doom
Leaves, twirling, tumbling toward earth,
stripping trees of their friendliness and comfort,
Jack-o-lanterns display their mirth,
and winter sneaks much closer.
The yellow-greens disappear,
replaced by ugly brown
somehow, even the lights grow cold,
in all the little towns.
Nature retreats to temporary death,
rivers and streams flow slow.
The woods filled with fires at night,
whose embers, when flying, glow.
A chill it seems, wet,
deeper than should be cold,
clamps it's hand around your heart,
and grips your very soul.
The fear that comes explodes, explodes,
makes you want to run,
and so, it's evil tidings then,
and the worst is yet to come.
Witches dance around bright fires
Werewolves howl at the moon,
Vampires winging through the night,
Its Halloween,the Night of Doom.
The Banners Unfurled
Banners unfurled in the hot desert wind,
chain mail, stallions, battle axes, steel tipped lances,
praying at Heaven for God to help send,
the drums begin, the trumpet sounds, advance.
The glint of silver, mounted lines charge ahead,
when brown dust and smoke finally clear,
mounds of bodies, equine and men, now dead,
never questioned, never did speak of fear.
Believing their souls to Heaven martyred,
thinking their life given in good cause,
understanding that good can never be bartered,
all life must be governed by God's laws.
A thousand years later, the desert exists,
the heat haze still rises, the wind still blows,
Not men, not horses, nor steel could resist,
the passing of time, it continued to flow,
the reason for fighting, long since forgot,
the Gods that were called on, no longer known,
the battle that day, remembered now not,
sands of the desert, by the wind being blown
THE CAUSE
I've seen you lying on the battlefield,
torn and broken, your life having fled,
I wonder what you thought your cause
for which you suffered and bled.
In the end did you think of yourself,
how you could stay alive,
how at home a young wife waits,
with a baby due in July.
Truth and causes are great things,
until the first shots are fired,
then causes are out the window,
it's life that you desire.
Survival of yourself and friends
is the thing you crave,
doing whatever it takes,
to keep you from the grave.
Some say there's a difference
between cowards and heros,
the manner in which they strive.
The truth below the surface is,
they both but try to survive.
IMMORTALITY
Skeleton faced Death,
midwife to eternal life
and God's total love.
Crystal Warrior
This Crystal, a magnetic link between we two,
a flashing crystal warrior, dedicated to you,
with the light of the sun, the warmth of my heart,
his watch he stands to defend or die, until we part.
May Rapheal, Michael, Gabriel, and Uriel lend him their fire,
to protect you and shield you from evil, be his one desire.
With the sword of power and the torch of the Holy Ghost,
he will defend against all comers and give you his most,
come stand within his circle, drawn with golden fire,
stand behind the stars of power, where things no longer dire.
His body absorbs that which is evil and smothers it with light,
his only purpose in being, to protect you from the night.
Beacon
Upon the mountain top, a shiny beacon, fire bright,
to help hold back the darkness, help us through the night,
sadly forgotten, in these days, the knight Gawain,
and with him, the round table, and other knights of fame.
Their warrior epic, with honor at its base,
meant to be a pathway, to save the human race,
if you'd renew their fight and your heart is true,
read these words with hope, do what they say do,
in decisions that you make, your heart feels right or wrong,
make the righteous choice, your heart is filled with song,
join with others, your united force is great,
vow to fight all darkness, no matter what your fate.
meet your battles head on, to shirk them is not good,
destroy evil where you find it, not wish others would,
treat your enemies as equals, be honest and fair,
worry not about endings, but how your actions bear,
Champion causes for others, their morals not your meat,
lend instead your helping hand, help them to their feet,
duty bound to help, people unfairly attacked,
always freely give, not caring what you get back,
keep promises, no matter what the cost will be,
wound never another, with words said needlessly,
forget not old King Arthur, his mighty table round,
follow his creed, be his knight, his philosophy sound,
create your own round table, do what you can do,
be society's benefit, they'll remember you,
as a shiny beacon, upon the mountain, fire bright,
that helped hold back the darkness, helped us through the night.
Man's Folly
Flickering fire, black chill of night,
Rune Master speaks in words of steam,
tired voice talks of the coming fight,
and warriors of the New God's dream.
"An end comes warriors of the sun,
this, the last night you'll ever see,
the New God comes, the Old Gods done,
viking days now cease to be.
Sword brothers, shield brothers, salute,
this surely your parting day,
tighten your straps, be resolute,
in your convictions do not sway.
Though they say their new god brings us peace,
that he brings mercy and all good,
they'll butcher and kill, not release,
stack our bodies, burn them like wood.
All our homes will be razed,
the lore of ages they'll deface,
they'll fix your daughters with their gaze,
take them, leave them in disgrace.
In the name of the faith thats true,
they'll smite our people with glee,
never suspecting the real truth,
..... all gods the same you see.
Mysteries
Volcano spewing forth fire, rivers of light in the darkness, in the distance
a glimmering shimmering jewel through time's fog,
Truth buried by Chronos, Tharantos, the cosmos and power,
The Evil Ones that wish us to grovel and cower,
until, at last, mankind's spirit dies,
the deluded who think Gnostic Philosophy a lie,
higher knowledge lost in this, the mechanical world,
this minute little dust ball on which we twirl.
Be it known then, the Light Warriors still fight,
holding back always the spirit's dark night,
searching tales of whats lost....cities, races, and Gods,
for any glint of hidden pathways that haven't been quite forgot.
Knowledge that nothing exists until its perceived,
just like the drowned lands beneath the seas,
magnetic flow lines, earth currents, ley stones,
mathematical science, musical tones,
secrets of the ancients, pyramids and such,
the higher self of man, the healer's magic touch.
Alone
Yes, my love, we've been here before,
standing, just short, of the final door,
where, together, forever, we may go,
I grab at the knob, look up..... I'm alone.
You've used love as a tool,
to make of me a fool,
mesmerized by your lies,
unwillingly watch as pride dies.
I march to my own destruction,
pretending its construction...
of a new life,
with a new wife...
Knowing you walk me to cliff's edge,
to push me over, off the ledge,
to an emotional death I'm drawn,
for you're here today, tomorrow gone.
You desert me
you hurt me,
who's loved you the best,
ever more than the rest.
If we reap what we sow,
I can't see why you go,
unless of course, all we've been told,
simply falsehood, a lie so bold,
blame you, believe you, just what?
To escape this trap in which I'm caught,
my love, my darling, I know not what to do,
just that life's not worth living without you.
Yes, my love, we've been here before,
standing, just short, of the final door,
where, together, forever, we may go,
I grab at the knob, look up..... I'm alone.
Change and Never Change
Some places always change and never change,
and we all become what we're expected to be,
no matter what we expect to be.
It looks the same, but all the old familiar faces are gone,
for unknown reasons I'm driving past places of old heartache,
hoping for..............what?
Castle of Clouds
Mental masonry image, imaginary,
cloud castle, seen, but lacking reality,
seemingly solid, made by both heart and mind,
its nonexistent nature, revealed by time.
Self hypnosis, delusions of truth,
being all too ready to accept false truths,
too easily believing what I wanted,
ghost walls chill my bones, mist halls haunted,
Dreams of devotion, emotion, delight,
insubstantiality revealed in the night,
the grandiose gutted, empty, revealed,
balloon ego deflated, pierced by the real.
As The Embers Die
I look at you across the fire
and I see a saddening look in your eyes
that tells me that just like the embers
our precious love now slowly dies
you know everything of me
and I know all about you
our love now ritual
it seems there is never anything new.
Our interest we thought we'd always hold
but I've seen your eyes light for others
and it appears that, for me, your eyes now cold.
We've been around enough to see the truth
roads well traveled are we two
we pack our hearts in little bags
and its on our way we'll go.
True Love's Path
Fragile house of cards has fallen,
egg shell world caved in,
thought I heard love birds calling,
instead I find its just a dream,
trail of heart break I seem to follow,
forever and a year,
the boasts and lies I've swallowed,
all the heart felt tears,
mostly, no matter what I sometimes think,
really, I am alone,
wrongs I've felt, pushing me to the brink,
with hateful thoughts to atone,
just when I've had enough, taken all I can,
another stranger enters my life, bringing a new and wonderful plan,
and though, by now, you'd think I'd have learned,
using my head better than using my heart,
forgetting the times I've been burned,
only to find once again, I've been taken for a fool,
it wasn't emotion, or even my mind, I to them a tool.
In the middle of the night I call out your name,
only to find you're not there,
where are you, my darling,
why did I think you cared?
Stone Lady
Cutting pain seeps, through the dark depths of my heart,
the cold ache never waning, of me a constant part,
Granite Lady, who hears not my pleas,
as I stumble, fall, to bloody knees,
thy cold, cold eyes seeth me not,
nor my tears, flowing wet and hot.
What bane is this, the Gods have sent unto me?
to love one made of stone, one such as thee.
The Abyss
'Tis a sweet thought, my love, my love,
the thought of you and I,
full with passion, two hearts afire,
a dream from whence fancies fly.
Sad then it is, our feet aground,
the world between us we see,
mountains and walls, canyons and seas,
can never our fancies be?
Darling, if ever there be a way,
to bridge the abyss between,
no effort I'll spare in getting there,
to make us more than a dream!
Dark Flower
Floral being, exists only in light,
invisible at the coming of night,
only that which is perceived is real,
belonging to the dark only how you feel,
truth is, you belong to the world of the day,
no matter what evil ones say,
too easy to let others guide your path,
to let events enthrall you, internal wrath,
listen instead to your spiritual guide,
then over the sun your joyous ride,
remember, good can never be built on bad,
dark foundations only make you sad,
know you exist only in the sun,
the Light Warriors path, the only one.
Snow Flake
Let our love be like the Snowflake,
filled with laughter, and smiles, and touching,
let us enjoy it for its moment of splendor,
without promising tomorrows,
that we don't really know we can deliver.
Is the snowflake less beautiful
because its splendor lasts only a moment?
Had Things Been Different
You asked an answer,
I gave it.
I can see,
In the depth of your eyes,
the given answer,
the door chosen,
only an empty closet.
Where I'd hoped to find royal raiment,
only dust.
There is no true love,
only half loves which grow weary
with time.
Tolerance is all that remains.
Oh well,
there is another,
She says she loves me
like she loves the rain.
She's happy when it comes,
sad when its gone again.
If you're out taking a drive,
feeling the night,
drive my way.
Even if you have no place to go in mind,
look up, find yourself in my neighborhood.
Here is one
always glad to see you.
We'll toast what could have been
had things been different,
but they weren't.
I'm Here
Did you think you'd left me behind
with the complications
when you left
the red clay and cotton fields
of Mississippi?
Only to find
like a piece of old chewing gum
stuck to your shoe,
I'm here.
The End of Time
We tango through the moonlight
toward the end of time
watching reality die
but dear we're doing fine
the great parade has its end
things as they really are
with a rose between your teeth
we're dancing heart to heart
I watch your body moving
it fills me with a fire
darling at the end of time
its still you that I desire
Fat Cat
Like a fat cat on a flat rock I bask
in the glow of your love
feeling safe stretching out to the warmth
I get from your glow
you speak my name I love the sound
like the cooing of a turtle dove
I half close my eyes and with a
flick of my tail I tell you that
I love you so
each day when you come I jump up and run
to you as fast as I can
theres no place for me that
I'd rather be cause I'm your number one fan.
Beyond Reason
The mind and heart hope
beyond reason
for the fairy tale ending
which can never be.
Betrayed by cold logic and reason,
dreams
crash flaming into hell,
pray then,
that they are forgotten
and never missed,
instead of
grim memories of stolen bliss
The Wave
The wave
sparkling under
moonbeams
rushing
unstoppable
toward the shoreline
to crash
white arms
thrown
in all directions
smothering
drowning
the land
then
relinquishing all
it flows out
toward the great ocean
from whence it came
again
leaving
the earth
bare
rocks
like exposed bones
the wave
you
the earth
me
Non-Words
You speak
only in non-words
what you say
means nothing at all
like friends, love, great, interesting.
Words
that could be empty
or mean everything.
Leaving me
with no better understanding
than I had before
we began talking.
Again and Again
I'm cross with myself
for putting my hand on the hot iron
of love and honesty again
the memory a searing pain
remains a ghost
to haunt the reaches of my mind
forever
yet, I am compelled to reach
again
and again
The Lover
The lover is like the fiercest sun,
demanding to be the center of being,
to provide all, to be the only one,
sole source of warmth, love, light, seeing.
To trap you in orbit around them,
whether it be your will or not,
held by force, gravity, magnetism,
never to escape them, caught!
Or some are like comets, coming hard and fast,
just dirt and ice, here then gone,
they may come close, but they never last,
follow a strange path, then move on.
Goddess of the Glass Pyramid
"Tis I, the invisible one, come to see you again,
yes I, whom you can not hear, who's come your heart to win.
Undaunted by the many failures, the glass mountain I try,
my feet, on the pyramids slick surface, always seem to slide.
Effort it seems, not the key, to reaching your icy summit,
but magick, I do not possess. . . my heart aches and plummets.
My love, if I could but sprout wings, I'd swiftly fly to you,
despair, Goddess, I know not how, and of me you have no clue.
Mirrored Cube
Trapped, suffocating,desperate fear,
all the things I feel in here,
inside this sealed cube of one-way mirrored glass,
time, hope, energy, falling toward zero fast,
outside is mirror, no one sees inside,
seeing only reflections of themselves,
fear, fright, or pride,
unable to see me, hear me, touch me, they are blind,
standing by innocently, as I wiggle, wither, and die.
The Funeral
"Twas his funeral that he'd planned,
this dour, quiet, to somber man,
hoping for drizzle and a gray day,
springish or fallish, 'twas good either way,
with the bagpipes and piper atop the hill,
Amazing Grace, Oh Danny Boy, shrill,
upon his casket a yellow rose lay,
gathered round the pit, all those, this day,
that had known him, though none knew him well.
They hear in the distance the tolling of a bell,
some shed tears, others in silence stand,
wonder at he who's died of his own hand.
Not far in the distance another stone stands,
over the grave of the woman loved by this man,
He held her little in this life of torture and pain,
so through Death's door he passes, so he'll hold her again.
His heart, his love, would not by this world be bound,
he must follow the path of his darling in the ground.
What lies beyond the portal, none here know for sure,
but, one way or another, he's found in death a cure.
No Cure
A note we found, scrawled in his hand,
an invitation you understand.
"Enter Death, you're welcome here,
my zest for life now gone I fear,
no certain event killing my desire,
its the day to day of which I tire."
Of living, some would say, he'd grown tired,
and the final, peaceful sleep, his desire
Others will say he felt life too harsh, mean,
he needed to move on, to see better things.
The truth, it seems, we'll never know for sure,
there are just some things in life, for which there's no cure.
Goodbye, Little Darling
I didn't desert you, I never would, thats only how it seems,
please believe, I'm not really gone, you'll see me in your dreams,
remember to care for your mother, she'll need all the help she can get,
see, her hands are shaking, her eyes all red and wet,
to hold you in my arms, to get a hug and kiss,
these were things important, these the things I'll miss,
always remember, I love you, I always will,
my love hasn't stopped, though my body lies cold and still,
dry yours eyes my darling child, listen to what I say,
I didn't know I wouldn't be back when I left the house today,
I'm sorry I didn't take time to kiss you as I went,
there are some things man can't control, some things heaven sent,
its not your fault darling child, that I won't come back again,
we can't say what fate will bring, or what our God will send,
the other driver drinking, failed to see the sign,
I couldn't get out of the way, the car he hit was mine.
The Old Man
An old man struggles up rickety stairs without grace,
his cane assists, his back is bent, a frown upon his face.
The body ages around a mind thats always been so keen,
nature's little joke, a joke that seems so mean.
The mind, as alive as ever, it enjoys the same things as before,
the appreciative look of a woman... now gone forever more.
To strut again, strong and young, that would happy be,
instead he wobbles and hunches, belittled in eyes that see.
Love it seems, gone the way of the body as the years go by,
with passion found less and less and without passion we die.
When you see an old man with the devil in his eye,
remember there's a keen mind surrounded by a body that dies.
If he eyes a young lass, remembering is all he does,
thinking back to old days before he turns to dust.
The Sands of Life
In the oven like heat we climb,
feet crunching, bright sand sinking down,
though we are climbing in our mind,
it seems we've failed to look around.
A mountain of sand, touching the sky,
grains move willy-nilly on the surface,
an avalanche rolling down as it passes by,
as Hell's furnace's winds howl and gust.
Though we think its upward we go,
in the struggle we call life,
the avalanche carries us low,
its an uphill battle we fight
